Kergin B. Bedell

Kergin represents entrepreneurs operating in regulated industries. His practice focuses on administrative law, regulatory compliance, and general business issues.

Before joining Burton & Bedell, P.L.L.C., Kergin served as a Staff Attorney at the Texas Department of Insurance and most recently as the Deputy Public Counsel at the Texas Office of Public Insurance Counsel. He has nine years of experience in insurance regulation. His responsibilities have included entity licensing, drafting and commenting on administrative rule proposals, representing parties before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, and reviewing and commenting on property and casualty insurance rate and form filings. Kergin has also developed and implemented compliance programs for alcoholic beverage importing companies and advised entrepreneurs on business formation and entity selection issues.

Kergin graduated from Westminster College with a degree in Business Administration. He earned his law degree at the University of Maine where he was an editor for the Maine Law Review. Away from the office Kergin is an avid baseball fan and enjoys running. He lives in Austin with his wife Lorrie, and two daughters.
